London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) is advancing into the blockchain era with plans to develop an onchain settlement system for digital securities. The MOVE aligns with a broader institutional shift toward tokenized assets and blockchain-based infrastructure.

The LSEG Digital Securities Depository will bridge traditional and digital markets, supporting multiple blockchain networks. Targeted for a 2026 launch pending regulatory approval, the system aims to integrate with existing settlement platforms while enabling new functionality for fixed income, equities, and private market assets.

"We're building an ecosystem where participants can move seamlessly between digital and traditional markets," said Daniel Maguire, LSEG's group head of markets. The initiative expands on the group's existing distributed ledger technology platform, which already facilitates private fund tokenization via Microsoft Azure.
